Abstract

The description of Thorictus cirenaicus made by Andrea Fiori in a paper of 1914 escaped all subsequent entomologists who worked on the group, so much so that in 1965 Hans John described Thorictus cirenaicus as a new species from one of the syntypes recorded by Fiori, giving rise to a peculiar case of concomitant synonymy and homonymy.
