The Dermestidae (Coleoptera) of Jordan and Egypt are poorly known, and the current study represents the first extensive consideration of Anthrenops Reitter, 1881 (a subgenus of Anthrenus Geoffroy) in Jordan and Egypt. Three new species of Anthrenops are described: Anthrenus (Anthrenops) pinnigeri, from Jordan and Egypt, Anthrenus (Anthrenops) carbonarius from Jordan, and Anthrenus (Anthrenops) rufus from Egypt. Previously, only three species of Anthrenops had been definitively recorded from Jordan (A. coloratus Reitter, A. eichleri Kadej and Háva and A. funiculus Holloway) and one species from Egypt (A. coloratus). Therefore, comparisons between previously described species and the new species are extended to include Anthrenops species from Iran, a region that has been more thoroughly studied. Images of habitus, ventrites, antennae, and genitalia are presented. It is concluded that none of the previously described Anthrenops species resemble any of the new species described here. New records of A. coloratus, A. eichleri and Dermestes intermedius KalÃk for Jordan are noted.
